MICHIGAN TO RECEIVE MILLIONS IN BROWNFIELD MONEY

June 23, 2015, Washington DC:  The EPA has awarded $54.3 million to 147 communities across the US to cleanup and redevelop contaminated properties and boost local economies.  Six Michigan communities will receive a total of more than $2.5 million to fund Phase I/IIs, Asbestos, Lead Paint and other hazardous materials as follows:

  • Alger County (Munising) - $196,100 in community-wide assessment
  • Detroit - $350,000 for assessment at Riverside Park, Parcel #3
  • Downriver Community Conference - $500,000 for assessment 
  • Genesee County Land Bank - $200,000 for cleanup of the former Ramada Hotel
  • Jackson County - $400,000 for community-wide assessment
  • Lansing - $500,000 for assessment
  • Muskegon - $400,000 for community wide assessment
