Mr. Thomas Wackerman

President and founder of ASTI Environmental, Thomas Wackerman, is also the practice leader for our Brownfield Redevelopment Group. In addition, Mr. Wackerman is the Chairman of the University of Michigan/Urban Land Institute Real Estate Forum that has highlighted real estate best practices in Michigan since 1986.  He has been instrumental in the technical and policy aspects of Brownfield Redevelopment and obtaining incentives for projects across the state, including the redevelopment of the 206 acre Steelcase Campus.  Mr. Wackerman earned his degree from the University of Michigan.  He is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (Masters Level), Certified Environmental Trainer, and Licensed Real Estate Instructor.

Ms. Dianne Martin

Director of the Resource Assessment and Management Group, Ms. Martin, is an ecological expert with over 25 years of experience serving clients throughout the Midwest. Since arriving at ASTI Environmental in 1998 she has completed numerous projects ranging from Threatened and Endangered Species Surveys to Wetland Delineations.  She is a graduate of Western Michigan University where she earned a B.S. in Biology and Ms. Martin holds an M.S. from Eastern Michigan University.   Ms. Martin is a member of the Society of Wetland Professionals.

Mr. David Amir

Director of the Site Redevelopment Services Group, Mr. Amir, has more than 28 years in the environmental industry in a variety of areas including Phase I environmental site assessments (ESAs), Phase II ESAs, baseline environmental assessments (BEAs), underground storage tank (UST) investigations and closure activities, soil and ground water evaluations, and hazardous materials inspections and abatement projects. He has a B.S. in Geology from Eastern Michigan University.

Mr. Bruce Bawkon, P.E.

Director of Industrial Compliance Group, Mr. Bawkon, has over 35 years of experience as a professional engineer.  He is successful in managing technical staffs and large scale projects pertaining to regulatory compliance, facility design, permitting and complex investigations for both single- and multi-site operations at solid waste management and industrial facilities.  He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Michigan and Illinois, a Certified Storm Water Management Operator and a member of the Washtenaw County Consortium for Solid Waste Management.  He oversees all of ASTIs compliance and permit programs, and  various compliance monitoring projects for solid waste and industrial sites in Michigan and Illinois.  He is a graduate of the University of Michigan, with a Masters in Engineering and Bachelors in Natural Resources.

Ms. Carrie Kempf

Director of Property Services Group, Ms. Kempf graduated with a Master of Science from the University of Colorado, and a B.A. from Ohio State University. She has been working in environmental consulting for over 25 years, including work on the Kalamazoo River Superfund Site and the Gordie Howe International Bridge. Her focus has been on remediation and assessment, especially groundwater.

Mr. Doug Brown

Director of Development, Doug Brown, connects clients to strategic real estate opportunities and is also responsible for client satisfaction and growing the ASTI brand throughout the Great Lakes Region.  Mr. Brown led the most successful Brownfield Transaction Forum ever and has received numerous  awards for excellence in economic development and real estate, including Commercial Inc. Magazine's "Elite Eight," the Michigan Economic Developers Association President's Award and the Horizon Award Trophy from Detroit Fusion - The Detroit Regional Chamber's Young Leader's Organization.
