According to ASTM Practice  E 1527-05, the term Recognized Environmental Condition (REC) means the presence, or likely presence of hazardous substances or petroleum products on a property under conditions that indicate an existing release, a past release or the material threat of a release of any hazardous substance or petroleum products into structures on the property or into ground, groundwater or surface water of the property.

So what’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word Environmental Consultant – tree hugger, hired gun, necessary evil or a valued asset who your company relies on to mitigate risk and expense of environmental challenges ??  

Brighton, MI-November 30, 2011:  With just 7 of the State of Michigan's 54 applicants being awarded EPA Brownfield Assessment and Cleanup grants, this year proved to be one of the most competitive grant rounds in recent memory.  ASTI Environmental assisted two of the seven winning communities - the City of Inkster was awarded a $400,000 community wide site assessment grant, and The City of Adrian, through Lenawee County, was awarded a $200,000 cleanup grant.

ASTI Environmental's President, Tom Wackerman, Chairman of The 25th Annual University of Michigan/Urban Land Institute Real Estate Forum (REF), announce that the this year's Forum attracted 450 real estate investors/brokers/developers, economic developers, financial institutions, environmental consultants, lawyers, students, contractors, public officials, educators, planners and community/faith-based organizations on.November 9-10, 2011 at COBO Center in Downtown Detroit.   REF is devoted to placemaking and best practices in downtown, clean/green, walkable communities.
